NanaKP's Journal, 30 Apr 18

Ok, here I go again! I have been very bad about what I put into my mouth. I have been fairly good at writing it down until about a week ago. I went to my endocrinologist for my 3 month checkup. All my lab work is fabulous and my A1c is 6.9. Unfortunately, their records show a weight gain of 16 lbs. I've been trying to get back on track but have developed an ailment that many of you might know. The "Tomorrow" disease. I'll start my program tomorrow. Unfortunately this disease has a comorbidity of the "since I'm starting the program tomorrow, I will eat this fat/carb filled goodie tonight" disease. Today became my tomorrow. It is always so much harder to get back on track than it is to stay on track once your into it. Life has tried kicking me in the butt too many times recently. I'm ready to kick back. Because of the diabetes monster, Ern has lost four toes, spends 4 hrs at dialysis 3 times a week and now needs a walker.A friend of mine, who often dines at our table in the dining room, died this week from complications of the "monster". Ern is also having an outpatient procedure this Friday to remove the abdominal catheter which failed him when he was on peritoneal dialysis. He has to be at the hospital @ 05:00. Fortunately my granddaughter has offered to drop him off at the hospital before she goes to work. He will be taking the Lift bus from the hospital directly to dialysis and another Lift bus home. I have been very good about counting carbs and taking my insulin because I'll be damned if I'm going to face any of this crap. He and our daughter are also going through all the preliminary steps for her to give him her kidney. Scares the heck out of me, but neither of them seems to care. To say that my life has been stressful would be an understatement. I've decided to stop using stress as an excuse. I'm back on track. Granted, the hardest part of my day is yet to come, but I've been great so far and I'm determined that I'm going to get back into the swing of things. Since dinner Ern has brought me a BlueBunny ice cream cone which I made hi. Put back in the freezer explaining to him AGAIN how important this dieting is to me. He has now popped corn which I'm also not eating. I AM GOING TO MAKE IT THIS TIME!!
Hope you all have been doing well, and I'll slowly catch up on you.
