Debbie Cousins's Journal, 14 Mar 22

Well, I succeeded in drinking EIGHT 8-oz bottles of water yesterday, and I walked 1/2 mile (1,052 steps). Weigh-in was higher this morning because yesterday I had two bowls of Navy beans, each with two slices of country ham cut up into them, so I was retaining a bunch of fluids; plus, I hadn't gone to the bathroom in two days. Tomorrow will be a better reflection of how I am "really" doing.

Today's inspiring quote: "Success is less about making good habits easy, and more about making bad habits hard." Buy forcing myself to buy a 2-liter Diet Coke each day, paying full price out of my own PayPal account, I am making it "harder" to justify drinking it. I'm beginning to think that eliminating Diet Coke may FINALLY be in my future! I NEVER pay $2.49 each for a DC, but I did it today - very painful!

My sneaky husband ate the rest of the country ham last night after I went to bed, and the deli didn't have any this morning. I will still be adding salt to my Navy beans today, but I doubt it will be as much as was in the FOUR slices of country ham I had yesterday. I'm also going to eat it earlier in the day, so it has more time to digest. Thankfully, I did have a good bowel movement this morning - but it was after I had gotten dressed for the day and already had breakfast, so I wasn't able to check my weight afterward.

At the grocery store this morning, they had some beautiful strawberries 3/$5 (which is only $1.66 each, and I think the containers are about a quart (definitely bigger than a pint). I'm going to enjoy snacking on those today. Been doing MUCH better about getting in the nutrition from fruits, but need to work on increasing vegetables also. Got some of my frozen Chicken Vegetable Soup from my mother-in-law's freezer yesterday; so that will add some veggies. Mmm. A nice warm bowl of that sounds good right now!

Hope you all have a productive day and that it catapults you closer to your goals!
