I enjoyed this video with Dr.Tynol. About metabolic disfunction vs resilience. Two woman doctors talking about preserving health into aging through cardio-metabolic health. Low muscle mass as a signal of faster decline from all causes, including heart disease, poor immunity and poor
vaccine response. Our systems are not siloed; we need to address metabolism-the substrate of most diseases. Fat people are both overweight and under-muscled. Lift weights to turn on metabolism. Eat more meat; lift more weights, and walk. Lots of detailed insights.

Ok if you ladies are doing deadlifts. Please read up on how to properly brace your core. I feel that’s the number one thing you must learn to not hurt yourself. And yea body weight exercises are great beginner workouts. You don’t even need to touch weights until you could get reps of 30-60. Then you’ll have a good foundation of strength and can go into weight training. But Push-ups, squats, pull-ups, chair dips and crunches are all great movements

Thanks for the tips, Super! You are definitely appreciated! 🙂

@Super... any ideas on how to mimic modified pull-ups at home?

You mean without a pull-up bar?

yes

...and for a beginner that can't lift their own weight, yet.

Well they sell dip stations that you can do upside down rows with. Or if you have weights that you can row with. Or you can get a door pull-up bar and use a chair to step on and use your legs to help push you up as needed. And as you get stronger you’ll need less n less of your legs until you can do one without

@Super... Nice info! Thanks bunches!

And for push-ups you can start using a couch. The more upright you are the easier it becomes. But as you get stronger you want to get more n more horizontal until you can hit full push-ups

@Super... Wow! I'd never thought about that. It makes alot of sense! I'd been just trying to the modified ones on my knees instead of toes. I've got to learn how to group my muscles for workouts all over again. I've forgotten so much! 😏

*taking notes* push-ups, squats, crunches, chair dips(?), pull-ups (rowing with weights) 30-60 reps b4 adding weights

LOLOL Super, IDK what a dead lift is, but I attempted to get down on the porch and do a real push up....well and I had to pull myself up with the porch rails, and it kinda felt like lifting a dead body....a very heavy dead body...so...deadlift 😆😆😆

@LadyD, I think my bowling ball is a 12#, hmmmm, wonder if I can use resin in the finger holes and attach a rope handle.....that might work, no bowling alleys around here, might as well use it for something besides a closet toe stumper!!!
22 Jul 23 by member: debrafrederick
YES!!! And I can slide a 4 inch piece of pvc over the rope to make a no burn handle...

LOL Lady D! My hobbies are making things, all kinds of things. I make wire tree sculptures with copper wire on a variety of wood bases, small logs, driftwood, pine knots, resin. I make jewelry, wire weaving and wrapping stones and beads. I do bottle art, using clay, paint, decoupage. I make soap, candles, incense, lotions and potions with essential oils. And I repurpose things that are no longer used into things that are once again useful. Hubby uses my skills when he needs something manufactured for a missing part that he can't locate, I can usually make a decent replacement. He bought me a huge she-shed to put all of my crafty crap in because the house was becoming a dangerous landslide. So the bowling ball has a lovely braided paracord and pvc handle attached to it, the resin will be fully cured in 72 hours 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

I have a computer in my shed too, so when I have deskwork down as an exercise, that is when I am in the shed creating more stuff. I get a booth at our city's annual Christmas parade and I sell most of what I make there. I provide unique gifts for almost every walk of life. It's always a fun day!
