abbadabba's Journal, 20 May 24

Well, I am baffled. No change. I think I am delusional about how much I eat. I don't have anyone keeping track of me except me so I am the only one fooling myself into thinking I am eating well and cutting calories.
Not really sure what to do about that, in a way that I can stick to.

Fat Secret is a wonderful guide but don't confuse it for an exact accounting of any one individual. Food labels have a legally allowed error. Our eyes are not calibrated to a scale or measuring cup. Fat Secret calculates calories burned using nominal equations. Memories fade. Etcetera... To get Fat Secret to work best for me, I have learned I must calibrate what it says to my real-world results. How? For me it seems to take multiple weeks to see the results from a change in my habits. So, I slowly change my food and exercise habits as needed from the results I measure toward the results I seek. Like for me, I doubt anyone else, I must achieve a Fat Secret recorded 3500 calorie a day deficit to see any weight loss.

I always figure calories can be 200-300 calories higher than what I log. Even if I measure and weigh everything. Just entering something like "chicken breast" or "beef chuck roast" I get all kinds of different choices with numbers that don't match. I hope you don'tget discouraged.

Even with possible error in food lables & FS it is totally doable to lose the weight. I weighed everything I could....even packaged items that had a calorie content listed....bagles, bread, cereal, peanut butter. Although I never eliminated any food group totally, I made it easier by eating more vegetables to replace things like pasta, potatoes or rice in the beginning. I usually ate 1/2 bagle for breakfast but I ate burgers & sandwiches without the bun/ bread. I ate 3 "meals" a day with planned snacks (usually only one after dinner). Any exercise I got was not calculated into my allowed calories. Meals away from home were not eliminated, but restricted.

I sent what I had typed, since I couldn't see anymore 😊 Abba, don't get discouraged & quit! You have lost 18 lbs. so you know you can do it. I think because it can sometimes be slow, you get impatient & want to change what you're doing. There is no quick fix!! You just have to work the process.

I think some of it is being female and my age for me. Medical problems too. Maybe it is for you also. Hugs.

I re-read your bio. Are you still eating 1000-1200 calories daily? Is your WOE still vegan? Wanted to make sure before I comment.
