Day #38. Down one pound this morning, praise the Lord! Only 10.5 pounds left to lose in 19 days. Wish I would have set my goal for 199.9 instead of 199.0, but what's done is done.

As to the colonoscopy, I don't know that I will lose all that much with the prep. The last time I had a bowel movement was on Day #6 (over a month ago), because there is nothing has gone into my system to digest. I'll probably lose some, because of autophagy during that time, dead cells sloughing off, and whatever was left in my digestive tract after that last bowel movement. But, I don't expect it to be a lot of weight lost for the procedure.

My anniversary is in three days, and my birthday is in 12. Usually, all we do to celebrate occasions is to go out to eat. Looks like both those celebrations will be slightly delayed this year. I'm looking forward to some nice lobster and/or crab legs at Red Lobster! Some people in our church are kind enough to give us restaurant gift cards for such occasions, and we thoroughly enjoy using them.

I still am not sure exactly what I'm going to do once the fast is over. I'm thinking about eating all my meals from a salad plate instead of a full-sized dinner plate. Reduced portions sounds like a good idea. I knew a lady who lost a tremendous amount of weight by just eating HALF as much as she would usually have.

I feel like I've developed some degree of self-restraint during this time of fasting but I'm still tentative about how I will do once I start eating again. That's when I'll REALLY need the prayers! When you're not eating anything, eating the RIGHT thing is a given. Jack Canfield says, 100% is easy - 99% is hard. As long as I'm not eating ANY food, I'm not making any bad food decisions. I'm not saying I'm NOT going to go back to eating -- that would be ridiculous. Of course I am, and probably within the next 2-3 weeks. I'll just need to be careful to make good food choices and to eat in moderation, instead of stuffing myself.

Thanks again to everyone who has cared about me and my health, and to those who have encouraged me to reach my goal.

Nice drop. Well earned. Super pleased to see you focused on how you will maintain. Strongly encourage you attack maintenance with the same thoughtful, rigorous, disciplined approach that you have taken with fat loss. Let's go! #stillgrindtime #stayhungry

Maintenance is harder than dieting, as you say. But we are all behind you. So glad for the 1 pound drop. Happy Anniversary ahead of time.

I've used the salad plate trick since the 1990's, and can assure you that so long as you don't go back for seconds or eat dessert, you can lose weight and maintain a slim figure. If your cupboards are bare at this point, consider making up a grocery list and plan on eating a lot of fresh produce and whole foods. Where people fall down is by eating in restaurants regularly and by keeping processed foods/snacks in their homes. In other words, you can change your WOE and literally start from scratch in creating healthy habits. That way you will look good on the outside AND the inside 💛.

You are right about the 100% being easier. Perhaps just apply that to the things that are real red flag temptations. I love pasta, potatoes, and bread, especially bread. I have cut those out of my woe almost entirely. Meaning I don't buy them and I don't cook them, so I'm not tempted. Rarely I'll cook Dreamfield's or CarbNada pasta, in fact I can only remember cooking pasta once so far this year. It's still hard, but not allowing myself to eat them at all is way easier than figuring out how I can eat just a little. If I do eat those things, and there are many more, which are most tempting to me, I try to plan ahead for it. That's not always possible, but I try. For example, the waitress put croutons on hubby's salad a few days ago. He took them all off, but I ate one piece. I remembered to have her hold them off my salad. I didn't plan for eating that one, and it wasn't even good, so I regretted it. But that's the closest I've come all year to eating real bread. I am, however, planning for when my tomatoes get ripe to have one tomato and mayo sandwich--that will temporarily break my bread abstinence.

Are you fasting for the colonoscopy? That seems a lot easier and healthier on the system than the harsh laxatives they recommend. Happy Early Anniversary and B-day! <><

1/2 salad plate is a good ongoing habit. I hope you have an experienced faster/nutritionist to ease you back into food. Maybe start with smoothies and baby food? I fasted a lengthy time a few years ago, Debbie, and all I recall is not to eat carbs first, break the fast with fermented food and yogurt to get your gut bacteria back. Hope your GP is a savvy one! Praying for you and wishing you all the best
