Debbie Cousins's Journal, 02 Jan 22

So, today was Day #2, back in the game. Well, at least watching from the sidelines. I go to bed very early and get up early, but last night was weird. Went to bed at 5:30pm. Woke up at 9 and had a slice of buttered toast. Went back to sleep, then woke back up at 11 and couldn't go back to sleep. Sooo...

I got up and made a Franklin Nut Cake. I made my first one for Christmas, and it didn't turn out right. It's a recipe from my mother-in-law, and she hadn't made one in about 5 years, so I decided to tackle it. Having failed the first time, I gave it another go last night, and made some changes. It turned out much better this time, and I ordered some more candied cherries so I'll be able to make another one for my husband's birthday on 2/12. It's kind of like a fruit cake, and something that makes my husband very happy to eat. I like it a little too much, also! I DID give away 1/4 of the cake to people in church this morning, so that's that much less to be eaten here at home.

I haven't really made any goals yet, so I haven't "failed" at anything this year. I made a goal to drink 8-oz of water yesterday, and I accomplished it. I didn't feel inspired to make the same goal for today. Maybe tomorrow.

My focus for this year is to just be listening, so I will know when God is trying to tell me something. He often speaks in a "still, small voice," and I often need a whack in the head to get my attention.

I'm enjoying listening to the Dramatized New International Version Audio Bible this year. I started a couple days before the 1st.

I'm reading all your posts again. Just remembered that I should be clicking the Support button so you know that.

Has anybody seen any posts from Sharon's Victory over the past six months? The Lord has brought her to my mind several times, and I was wondering how she is doing.

Note to self: I need to read my previous posts before making a new Journal entry. There have been several things I started to write, and then I thought, "Did I already say that yesterday?"

I'm not following Sharon Victory, I'll have to search for her. Glad you're back!

Deb, it sounds like you could use some tough love from fellow dieters. I won't say it, because you already know. Sending support. It's a new year.

Hi Debbie, I've been on a long break... not a planned one. I am inspired to add exercise to my habits which is something I have been avoiding. I'm looking forward to reading your posts and being on this journey with you. Happy New year to you and all of the lovely people you have invited to your weekly challenge.
