SLEEP-EATING NEAR CATASTROPHY! WOW, today is going to be challenging, but I’m up to the task! Last night, AFTER I wrote the post that said how many calories I had each day, I REMEMBERED that I had also had a Peach Yogurt with 1/2 oz of Pecans – so I added them to this morning’s Breakfast! So far so good, right? Well, I was diligently recording the things I was eating for my REAL breakfast, which I entered under LUNCH, and I couldn’t figure out why all my numbers were so HIGH! Then, I looked down to the bottom of the page and saw that I had “slept walked” last night! I had “gone to bed” at 9:00pm, but could NOT go to sleep, even with the new and improved sleep medicine! I know I finally went to sleep about midnight, but apparently, I got up and had a piece of coconut cream pie with some pecans broken on it, and 1/2 cup of milk! SO, it’s only 8:38 am, and I’ve already had 1,352 of my 1,675 Calories for the day!

SO, I have 323 calories to get in another 140g of fruit or vegetable servings, AND get in 9.6g more Fiber, AND increase fats from only 53%. I could eat an Atkins bar to get the Fiber up to over 20g, but the Protein in it would make the Fats even less, and it wouldn’t leave enough calories for the rest of the Fruit/Veggies. I REALLY want to make some more Fruit Salad, but that won’t get in the Fats, either.

AHHH, after MUCH fenagling, I have figured out that my only solution is Avocado! It counts as a Fruit (not Vegetable, for those who aren’t enlightened). I can’t eat ENOUGH of it to get my fats up to 60%, so I’m going to eat the minimum that I can eat to get in the 20g of Fiber, which is 150g. That will put my RDI at 1,592, which is higher than I’d like, but it still enables me to get in everything that I most important to me right now.

NOTE: It should be fun (NOT!) making Double-Decker Taco Supremes and refried beans for everyone for dinner tonight!! I’m just glad I JOURNALED that pie last night, or I would have totally blown it for today, without even knowing it!

Instead of thinking how few calories you have for the rest of the day.......maybe consider that you have 15(?) hours to burn off some of those calories. Can you work in more exercise. Your body needs fuel it cant run on cocoanut cream pie!

Yes, @keyten, that's the only way I was able to figure out how to salvage the day! I had to put in about 15 different combinations of things to find one that will work. Normally it's not a problem, but adding in a 592-calorie snack last night that I don't even remember EATING, really threw me for a loop. Does anybody think I should get to eat ANOTHER piece of pie, just so I can see if it was worth it? JK. Good suggestion, @gogogirl59! I WILL be getting in PLENTY of exercise today, because I'm picking up my 3-year-old grandson in a couple hours and will have himf or FORTY-EIGHT HOURS!!! @liv001, I used to do things like that when I was taking Ambien. I'm on Clonazepam now, which is usually not a problem. BUT, after almost THREE HOURS of trying to go to sleep, I think I took a SECOND one!

This might sound funny.....if you dont remember eating the pie how do you know you ate it? Someone else in the home saying you did ?

I've had those mornings - walking into the kitchen and going 'what the heck went on here last night!' That was when I wasn't recording food, thankfully. Or maybe, not. Only I would remember eating it when I saw the dishes. Now, my brother... HE would sleep eat. One night he got into that frozen margarita tub in the freezer (you know the kind you just add tequila and keep it for whenever) and ate THE WHOLE thing. The next morning he commented 'I don't know what was in that ice cream but I slept better than I have in a long time!' I thought 'no kidding!' as he'd probably taken in about 12 shots of tequila with that 'ice cream'. What were we talking about?

Wow! Your finagling is akin to rocket science to me LOL! I’m not sure how you figured everything out yet, but I’m sure amazed that you did! 😊🎈

Still not sure Debbie do ypu remember it and own it? Growing up as the only girl in a family of four boys no one ever admitted to eating the last cookie brownie piece of lasagna or tub of ice cream. If you are truly a sleepwaker who eats that is something different. Not something to be fixed on FS.

I'm not really a sweepwalker. This was the ONLY time I had taken TWO of those pills. I vaguely remember eating the pie, but wouldn't have if I hadn't recorded it in my Food Diary. That's how I knew.

@FullaBella...I love those tubs! My dad and I used to always have at least one of those tubs going. We even "ate" it in the winter! We would keep it in the garage and would sit by the wood stove and pass it around the circle. My grandma liked them too! So funny because one by one we would all "disappear" and then my mom would come out to the garage to "find" us and find us eating straight out of the margarita bucket! They are both gone now and I can't have alcohol any more but I sure do miss those buckets!

I understand now....be kind to yourself. Don't let one piece of pie dictate how you eat for the rest of the day. Forgive yourself for making that choice and dont put yourself in the penalty box. Our bodies need a full spectrum of nutrition and allowing yourself just avocado for the remainder of the day causes more damage than good. Your determination and drive is so inspirational!
