Debbie Cousins's Journal, 22 Feb 21

Ok, this is getting ridiculous! Since 2/13: 242, 241.8, 241.5, 242.5, 242, 242.5, 241.5, 242.5, 241.5, 242! TEN days of basically staying the same weight! I'm doing everything right, I think! Drinking 15 cups of water a day. Fasting 16:8. Have been in "optimal" ketosis every day. Keeping calories under 1,600 (usually around 1,300), Fats 69-76% (usually 70), Net Carbs under 25g (highest percentage has been 10%), decreased Diet Coke from 2-liters a day to 2-3 cans, I get at least 10 hours of sleep a night.

I should be able to lose weight doing all this, right??? I'm getting very fed up! This morning, I am totally discouraged. Insanity is "doing the same thing and expecting different results," right? I've completed 16 days of Keto. During that tie, I've lost 4.5 pounds, BUT, I lost ALL of that in the first week! Since then, for TEN DAYS, I've lost nothing.

I'm going to have a bowl of oatmeal with raisins and pecans, followed by a naval orange! Screw this crap!
109.8 kg Lost so far: 7.7 kg.    Still to go: 41.7 kg.    Diet followed: 100%.

No one here has commented on the fact that you are weighing yourself EVERY DAY. This is a big mistake and can have the exact effect that it’s having on you right now. I weigh myself once a week at the same time. I’ve heard great things about the results from keto. But all good things take time. Also, don’t worry about the Diet Coke. It’s got ZERO calories. I would however consider all the other side effects it’s reported to have.

are you sleeping well? I've noticed with me if I'm not sleeping I don't see change. AND!! I got waist beads... the scale may not change much but I see the beads dropping so I know somethings goin on.

I had the same thing happen to me recently. Just stick with it. It will come off!

Agree with @mikeyfesto. Ditch the scale and use the mirror as your guide. The daily weigh-ins are doing nothing but bringing on a high level of stress. You didn't mention anything about your exercise routine. Try changing that up. Also, do you know your maintenance level of calories?

No! Don't quit Debbie. You need to be patient. When I started my journey it took 2.5 weeks for me to see a consistent drop. I would lose a pound, gain 1/2 a lb etc..I know it's discouraging but stick with it and you will see. How much activity is in your daily routine? Be as active as your body will allow. This journey you are on is long term and you have to be realistic about that. I believe in you. You can do this!💜

Agreed — what is the caloric deficit? Only way to truly before “your healthy” desired self. It’s a lifestyle change — Burn 3000 more calories than you take in during a weeks time and you will lose 1 pound. (All other things such as hydration being equal).

Since you're doing keto, make your limit 20g. The closer to zero the better. Also, with Keto, don't rely on the scale. Instead, you'll have to rely on your body measurements. measure your bust, chest, waist, hip, right or left thigh (both isn't necessary), right or left calf and right or left arm. Keep a log, maybe on Excel. That's where you will see your progress with keto.

I didn't opt in for keto on this app because the macros for the keto program are all off.

I have the same issue...I trick my body by doing an egg day...I usually eat 6 to 8 eggs.. any style... I use butter and no more than 3 oz of cheese that day (nothing else ) usually in down a couple of lbs the next day.

I agree w/JMA: Sometimes, Mostly, our bodies get used to our stagnant routines. You have to shock your body into changing when you want to see changes. THis means try incorporating something totally different every week that you have never done. Don't hurt yourself and don't starve yourself. When you fast, take your vitamins, drink Bone-Broth or any broth, and eat salads w/some type of protein in it. Make the salad your largest meal of the day. Try and eat your largest meal of the day, during lunch instead of dinner. This way, you can burn most of it off b4 bed time. H2o is good, exercise is good, but if you get bored w/exercising, like most ppl do, try exercising for 8 minutes, rest/pause or stretch for 3 minutes, exercise again for 8 minutes and repeat the pausing in between until the minutes all total 1 hour. Also, you may try to deduct something that gives you guilty pleasures, for a while, and then go back to it in smaller portions later. My husband & I gave up potatoes for Lenten Season bc we love them sO much and we want to see if we can drop more weight by doing so. God help us all...Amen

Oh Debbie. I don't know what to say. as I'm not fully understanding the keto thingy. I was trying it. But ....... Anyway. I still know what you are saying. However what I don't want to see you do is give up. Just following you I'm encouraged. We are in this thing together. Something is going to click again.

Not sure? Oatmeal definitely not keto? I was on a plateau for couple weeks. Took a day & ate more carbs than usual (45g) & helped kick start me again. Read an article about cycling carbs & makes sense. ?? Intermittent fasting isn’t an automatic wt loss thing, body adjusts to this & it helps keep you from over eating by eating in an 8 hr period. Helps regulate eating schedule, that’s all. Not a short term wt loss move. Helps more long term. Keep trying, we never give up!!! Gotta have faith & believe in yourself 🍀
