Debbie Cousins's Journal, 01 Oct 22

HOORAY!!! As of this morning, I've lost 25 pounds! God has been good in giving me the motivation and determination to stick with my plan for the past 14 weeks.

Yesterday was a "want to eat all day" kind of a day. It was a struggle to keep my calories as low as I did (1,711 - a bit higher than I like, but not terrible). Being cold is a problem, because a cup of hot tea adds 65 calories. It was adding 80 calories because I was adding two teaspoons of granulated sugar, but I've cut that to one. I really wanted a second cup yesterday, but I was able to do a little work around here to warm up, instead.

My husband was so good yesterday about going up and down the laundry room steps for me so we could get some laundry done. I had four loads, and he did all the legwork, PTL. He's a really good man! Today, I get to fold them all. I just folded the towels, standing up, but I think I may try to sit at the dining room table to fold the other loads.

I ordered the Arnicare Gel which someone suggested, and it arrived last night after I went to bed. Just put some on, and I'll keep you posted on whether it is any more effective than the diclofenac in relieving my knee pain. So far, no difference.

Research shows that losing one pound of weight relieves FOUR pounds of pressure on each knee. That means that my weight loss is relieving 100 pounds of pressure every time I stand up. You'd think my knees would be responding by this point. I miss those 9 weeks at the beginning of my diet, when they weren't hurting! Not sure what was different then than now. I'll just keep plugging along and keep praying for positive results.

I have been feeling a little guilty about indulging in one or two Halloween candies a day (50-90 calories each). BUT, I'm not going to feel guilty any more. This is MY diet plan, and if I want to work those calories into the daily calorie count, I can do that. As long as I keep my calories sin the 1,500's to 1,600's per day, I am having good weight loss results. If a few of those calories are from a little piece of candy, then so be it. One of the things that has helped me to be successful is by NOT eliminating the things that I love from my diet plan. When I feel deprived for a period of time, that's when I chuck the whole thing and go hog wild.

OH, one more thing. I accidentally had an extra Diet Coke yesterday. I drink my last Diet Coke of the day at 4pm when I have dinner, but I save half of that can to drink with my middle-of-the-night toast, and to take sips of when I wake up to pee during the night. Well, I made an online order, and they charged me $9.11 more than the stated total was supposed to be. I was so flustered, that I was dealing with that and sending emails, and didn't even notice when I had drunk ALL of the can of Diet Coke when I was only halfway through dinner. I could have stopped at that point, but I went ahead and opened another can to go with the rest of my dinner and my late night snack. What's done is done. I'll be right back on my 3-can-a-day regimen today.

Only today and tomorrow left before Monday's weigh-in. I see we have a bigger group than usual already signed up for Monday's Daily Accountability Challenge. That's exciting! If you'd like to join us, you can find the challenge here:
