ObeseToBeast123's Journal, 26 Apr 23

Been MIA for a bit ... busy with work and kids and Ive been working around back to back injuries but still putting lots of time into training. Plus Id rather not get involved with all the recent FS drama that's been going on 🙄. Our first spartan is on Sunday so I won't do any more weight lifting until then just keep messing around in the garage on the obstacles. Making sure to fully submerge my feet at every stream crossing since I'll be running with wet and muddy feet during all my races 😄

Cheesegobbler84 thanks it just jeeps getting bigger 😄 but that's alright by me since the whole family is enjoying it. I'll be alright just not happy I keep hurting myself and it's all been running related after going my whole life hating to run now that I found. Way to enjoy I keep hurting myself.

To piggy back on that cheese comment. A lot of people take running for granted. By that i mean they expect themselves to know how to run. But the opposite goes for most. Most people heel strike. Running on their heels. You’re suppose to land mid foot. That way there a bend on your ankles which puts your calves at play by being the shock absorber, a bend at the knee will use your quads. Anyway good stuff man, and don’t be so sensitive to online stuff or to people that don’t matter much to you

Yep, not everyone lands the same. I went to a running store, Boulder Running, and was properly fit. They have you run on a treadmill with a camera at your feet to analyze how you run and the best shoe for you. I ended up with Brooks Pureflow and loved them.

cindylynnwho thanks appreciate it. It's been getting ridiculous on here for weeks now

Yes tud that’s one way to help yourself. Btw otb this isn’t directed at you, I don’t know what your injuries is but it’s directed at running. But I blame modern shoe design for this. The way the shoes are their made to heel strike. You can do what tud does or you can fix your movement. I compare heel striking to that of ego lifting lol ego lifting you use momentum and sloppy form to get the most weight up. Ego running is heel striking, and not proper bend of the knees n ankles to get the most miles you can. Which comes at a cost to your ankle joints and knee joints. In a race it might be worth it but when training it’s definitely not. I recommend them toe shoes, which is close to barefoot. When you land wrong you will know it lol.

Supergainz1 the foot Injury was completely my fault I had Mt laces tied wya too tight and it jacked my foot up bad thankfully that has gone away now but now my knee has been bothering me I just went to an orthopedic this morning and it's exactly what I thought was wrong I have IT band syndrome in my one leg. He shot some cortisone Into my knee and gave me a script for some steroids if it continues. sadly I can't take any over the counter anti-inflammatorys because I'm allergic to all of them. I already started the stretches, exercises and foam rolling to help the problem a few days ago because I played doctor Google and was pretty confident I knew what was wrong. I'm just sick of all the my diet is the best your diet aucks arguments and the attacks on one another it's just pathetic. It's never toward me but I always want to jump into it and I don't need that drama in my life

TheUnhealthyDaddy that's a Greta next step if things don't improve. The first I jry was my fault and the second I'm getting treatment for now so well see where that lands me. Not being able to take NSAIDs to help swelling sucks ...just want to be normal 😆 my new shoes are drastically morecoushined and a much better option for the type of running and distances I do.

Bro, my wife and I gave up running because we both kept getting IT band pain. I try to stretch it even after walks now. It's not a pain you can push through. It only gets worse in our experience.

Otb123 yes it sure has been ridiculous! We need a block button for some people’s hatred and immaturity. Sometimes it’s like a train wreck I can’t look away from, but then that’s a me issue lol.

Lol I love diet war debates. It’s a good time to bring all sides and information to the test. But when it gets personal to the point of putting people down due to their looks then yea that’s too far, people’s weight yes cuz that’s the whole point of the diet. But I never hate anyone, even ketone lovers. That’s why it doesn’t affect me much.
