Great fall day! Well today started dark and early with a brisk 28 degree climb into my tree stand at 6am It was the first time I really missed being fat hahah damn it was cold. went to the park after and my son finally rode his bike on his own. kinda my fault it took this long our lives are so hectic and the time just hasnt been available. Pumpkin ice cream was his motivation so we stopped at our favorite spot for his reward(well lets be honest here I have been craving pumpkin ice cream and they close for winter in a few days so it may have been my reward 😄)I will try to stay at maintenance calories today and use it as a refeed day

Pumpkin ice cream. I could handle that as a reward. LOL.

But wasn't riding the bike a reward in itself?🚴🏻‍♂️ 🤔 Do hear ya on the Weigh less = freeze more. Aside from needing more bed covers, it's also slightly painful sleeping on my side with jutting hip bones. S'Okay -- I'll take it over the extra belly padding anyday!

JustBananas the bike riding was absolutely a reward for him and for me as well but he was really frustrated half way through and wanted to give up so the Ice cream idea was what got him to try again until he got it then he didn't even want to stop so I was pretty happy and maybe the ice cream was secretly partly for me

Truth. A bribe. A cheat. 😄 I remember teaching my stepson how to ride his bike. Once he got it he wanted to ride every free second. And then we had to teach him about traffic laws, cars, crosswalks, etc. and that was parental panic inducing for me. I don't remember my parents ever teaching me any of that; thinking it is a minor miracle I am alive today.

What a fun day with your beautiful children! I laughed at your description of your early morning, I never could quite understand why my husband loved getting up before dawn to freeze his butt off in a duck blind, but I did enjoy the bounty of his efforts. Hope your morning was productive.

JustBananas, I think of it more as an incentive than a cheat. To me, delicious food is something to be enjoyed in moderation, not something to eat with a feeling of guilt. Do you feel also feel guilty when you wear a pretty dress or take a luxurious bubble bath?

@Shirfleur: I don’t need food as an incentive. Eating desserts is counterproductive to weight loss, and I would rather spend my money on non-food items as rewards. Of course I don’t feel guilty when I treat myself to a pretty dress (size 4) or a soak in a bubble bath after a hard workout— neither of those will make me regain weight or mess with my insulin levels or increase my cholesterol.

Congrats little otb 👏👏👏. Bro I know what you mean about missing being fat thingy. I finally felt it myself. This few days I had to wear a compressor inside at night because I couldn't stand the cold anymore.

I have 4 kids. The first two were taught old school with training wheels then advancing. There were some challenges like most kids. My 3rd and 4th children were a breeze. They did the Strider for 2 years and then got a Woom pedal bike at age 4 and it was less than a 5min transition/adjustment! I highly recommend for all parents.

JustBananas, different is not necessarily wrong, it's just different. Your self righteousness in not appealing, not even in a size 4 dress.

Otb I am with you when my baby tiger princess started riding her bike. She was scared of falling first, until she discovered the training wheels then after a bit we had them taken off and the feeling of being scared started all over again. As you said as soon they got the confidence they didn’t want to stop. Lol. Now she wants to start with the roller blades. Now I’m scared hahaha 🤣 Your reward was a benefit for the both of you. Your patience, his persistence 🙌🏽🙌🏽 I’ve never tried pumpkin ice cream 🍦 but I raise my cup of eggnog for you spending a good day with the little ones 🤗
