Debbie Cousins's Journal, 17 Dec 23

Well, I totally blew it! I was so caught up in my new piano lessons and preparing for this church Christmas Party (which was yesterday), that I completely forgot to send out invites for this coming week's challenge. Even worse, I hadn't even SET UP the challenge, and when I tried to do it just now, it wouldn't let me make it start tomorrow. So, Challenge 2023-#51 will start on Tuesday. As soon as I post this, I will send out invitations for that. I also set up 2023-#52, which starts on 12/25, and Daily Accountability 2024-#01, which will start on January 1st.

My weight was up to 184.8 this morning! I ended up eating 3-1/2 slices of the cake in total. It was a big hit at the party, and thankfully, is all gone now! There were some of the Rolo Pretzel Bites left over, but I put them into the freezer to serve at our family get together on 12/24. There were also enough leftover Sausage Balls that I won't have to make them again for the 24th, PTL.

I hope and pray that all of you, my friends, are doing better right now than I am doing! I'm not planning to get totally back on the straight and narrow until 1/1/24. Through all the madness, I have been faithfully recording everything I've eaten in my Food Diary. Some days, it's been pretty grim! Average Daily Calories for this week are 2,605 SO FAR - still have to record what I eat today, which will raise that number. This coming week shouldn't be as bad as that, because I'm hoping to do better Monday through Friday, and not really indulge until Saturday and then enjoy the leftovers, which will be long gone by 1/1.

Brief update on family: My daughter (38) has a new love interest; my grand daughter (13) has a new boyfriend; my grandson is still having behavior problems in school, but he has an ADHD test on 1/11, so maybe they can get him an aide to help keep him in line so he gets his class work done; we got the Kurzweil piano moved from the church into our home on Friday (hooray!); my piano lessons are going well, and I've been faithful in practicing; I'm on target to finish reading the Bible in a year (I'm pretty sure I've been doing that for at LEAST the past 10 years - maybe even longer than that).

Best wishes to you and yours!
Debbie

I am NOT doing better than you. LOL. I use to almost always eat well and only occasionally eat bad but now that is reversed. I made iced sugar cookies and they are off the chart awesome, according to hubby, and I agree. And I ate 2 yesterday. One was one too many but I had 2. Hubby would eat 10 if I would let him or eat them all and end up in a coma. He has the restraint of a hungry raccoon. At least you are doing good things like learning to play the piano and planning Christmas for your family. Who could resist that cake you made?! It could be on the Food Network it looked so good. I would also take the pretzel bites and sausage balls too. I'm not making any promises either until the new year. I'm out of control and sort of need to comfort myself. My life can be a pain and it is right now. Wish I were there now sharing some of YOUR goodies. LOL.

I'm a big holiday dessert maker. problem is if I make 10 dozen cookies I eat more then half! I give a few (a lot) to my helper but I don't live near friends or family anymore so I eat them all! if I bake a pie or make a chocolate cake or cheesecake squares I give half to the helper and eat the rest for myself! I haven't made any goodies since Thanksgiving and that was made with my low calorie low/no sugar in mind. even my keto roommate enjoyed (more than I did) lol I can't keep ANY snacks in the cupboards as I'll eat them! I was eating junk food like Oreos, chips ahoy, sour cream and onion chips, fun size candy bars, movie boxes of candy those orange crackers with peanut butter, pp&j Sammy's, the desserts and cookies I made and the list goes on. THEN dinner and I only ate a couple bites. I was out of control! Im 4" 10.5" and weight 144lbs! I was looking like an oompa loompa! 😂 Im eating MUCH better 3x a day and currently weigh 125.6 I'm trying with exercise and better eating! I miss my snacky snacks! I miss sugar lol

Today was the first day in quite a while that I did not have a dessert. But I'm having a lot of bread and had pasta for dinner tonight. I'm out of control too. This last month has been particularly difficult. But I'm praising the Lord that my husband hasn't hit me again in the last 4 months.

Rubato456, I’m just learning to play at age 69-1/2. Congratulations on getting something you’ve always wanted! I’m sure you deserve it! Snowwhite100, sorry to hear you’re struggling, too. Did you get the Christmas card I sent you? I wish 1/1 would hurry up and get here before I undo all the progress I’ve made over the past year and a half. Scale this morning showed 185!!! I feel confident I’ll be able to lose it, though, once I start staying around 1,800 calories a day AND walking. (I’ve only been doing the minimal 1 mile a day to keep from breaking my walking record.) Yesterday was Day #397 of walking at least a mile a day. My goal for 2024 is to walk at LEAST 2 miles a day to accomplish my goal. I’m hoping to get back up to 6 miles a day, though! I need to be burning those calories!
