Beautiful snow. I love deer. They are right by our house all the time.

Our deer will stand there & watch us, but if we get too close off, they go. They've lived in the woods around our house for years.

I think deer know they are safe until September now that hunting season is over. It is surprising that they let me get this close though especially in a big state forest with no houses anywhere around and limited human intrusion. The neighborhood deer definitely get familiar with living in close proximity to humans.

My m.i.l. Had a house on one of the canals at the ocean and the deer there were so tame. They would lay in the yards like big dogs and come right up to you to be fed tho they were cautious. Also, you were not supposed to feed them. There was a mama that i always looked for for a couple of years. I miss those days. Makes your heart lighter to be so close to something so free and beautiful.

We got hammered too but with very high winds some areas are bare while others have drifts like mountains. Everything is closed today, including universities. That’s very rare.
