Back out on the trail for some more Spartan training with Scooby-Doo. Did a 7.2 mile hike /trail run. Probably only ran 2 miles of it. Part of my training is getting my feet ready so I stop and stand for a few minutes in every stream I cross... have to toughen up those feet and get used to running/hiking with wet and muddy shoes on.

How does Scooby-Doo handle the creeks? Does he love it as much as you!

Cold stream water 😱 that's my personal "nope" point lol. I'll do almost anything to avoid getting my feet wet on a run/hike

yeah definitely wouldn't recommend 🤣 but I'd rather potentially get blisters now and not have torn up feet on mile 9 of 13+ at my killington race. It took some testing to select a thin merino wool sock plus a thin sock liner and shoe combo to allow them to drain and my feet to dry back out. the spartan course designers are notorious for being mean with their obstacle placement they make you wet or muddy right in the beginning and then do it again repeatly right before you need clean hands for grip obstacles... jerks lol

Redporchlady scooby is funny he can't swim .. sinks like a rock we found that out as a puppy he ran and jumped off a rock into a lake on a hike and I had to go drag him out. When we take him out on the boat with us he wears a life jacket 🤣. But he loves the water so streams and the edges of lakes he has no problem wading into to drink from. In the summer when it's hot we stop at every stream crossing and he literally lays in the stream to cool his body off while he drinks sometimes he will lay there for a few minutes half submerged before he decides its time to go again 🤣

kaylinrenee haha idk about switching lol that sounds even more miserable. you probably don't need to go to this extreme for a regular trail race at least not regularly but I would absolutely test out your shoe and sock choice when wet and If you go for a trail run I wouldn't avoid every puddle because I'm sure some of them will be unavoidable during your race and getting used to that will definitely help. whatever you do dont get waterproof trail shoes you want the water to be able to drian out and not be trapped inside and the sock choice is really important.

Curious, does scooby have water draining shoes too😂. To go with his life jacket🥰. My golden retriever who doesnt mind walking in water refuses to swim. Have you ever heard of such blasphemy!

wifey9707 lol one of these days I'll fully embrace the suck and lay in the stream to get the full spartan wet clothes and wet shoes experience but I definitely was not doing that yesterday!

Kaylinrenee haha in that case what r u waiting for then lol go give it a shot
14 Mar 24 by member: ObeseToBeast123
maybe I'll just bring my bikini and swim across. or have a kayaker waiting. options... wait how funny would it be if i arranged boat service for the participants lmao

Man you are a beast! I walked 5 miles and my legs were mush afterwards…7 miles?! Yikes! I’m in awe!

kaylinrenee you may have better luck than me but last time I wore my bikini for a race water crossing it wasn't well received 😅 I think your onto something with this business idea to charge participants to get them across but how about build a portable bridge like a floating dock and charge everyone that runs across it you could bring it to every race In The area

Diana 1234 thanks 😊 I just want to be done cutting so increase my running volume with less chance of injuries been trying to hike and walk with less running for now
