SLYONE 22's Journal, 06 Apr 22

Had Dexascan on Monday. Nephrologist on Tuesday.
Dexascan showed Osteopenia (Low Mineral Density) pre-cursor to Osteoporosis. Confirmation of my personal diagnosis (Got No Muscles)! Need to EXERCISE! Seriously checking out options in the area.
Nephrologist says yes stage 3A Cronic Kidney Disease. More Blood testing and sonogram of kidneys. Follow up in a month. Increase fluid and NO NSAIDS!
I guess maybe Hubby's diagnosis of Infernal Optimist might be correct. I feel better than I have in 20 years. Not going to let this get me down. I have spent 2.5 years dropping almost 90#. The goal to be healthier is continuing. I just have to refocus on body composition. I am less than 20# from end goal weight. This is within reach.
I am humbley thankful for all the FS friends who support me on my journey. May the winds always be at your backs and the sun shining on your faces. All God's Blessings!

I got that diagnosis too - I have been lifting weights and eating right, so I don't know, I am not going to worry about it. Maybe take more Vitamin D since I live in the north and don't get much sun.

NSAIDs wrecked my dads kidneys too. I use to take ibuprofen for every pain but now I’m trying to ration it out very sparingly.

BB no giving up. This is my new life. Surprises around every corner, some good, some not so good. It's that box of Chocolates in real time. I got this until I don't. Then I have family and all of you wonderful FS friends. Have a Beautiful Day!

Yes all the people and all the ads that brag about losing weight without exercise — like that is something to aspire to— don’t get it, missed the boat, don’t bother to self educate. Exercise/physical activity is essential to overall health and does help with weight loss

Emma, there seems to be a lot of things we aren't told about when we start taking the wonderful little pills that make us feel so much better. Learning I should have asked more questions. Sadly I've been told that I ask too many. No such thing.. Ask, Ask and Ask some more! Nephrologist say hopefully no NSAIDS and hydration will improve enough that it will liveable. Blessings on your journey!

Salone22– there is so much information available to us today that we didn’t have in times past. It is crucial to READ, learn, take notes and ASK questions. I am a nurse, if your doctor or medical provider is chiding you for asking questions either confront them or change doctors. In today’s world you have to be very proactive for yourself. I have several friends that I am their medical advocate— even people who don’t live in my state. You would be appalled to know about the things that have been either overlooked or not even thought about until I caught them.

herself, thanks for the suggestion. Vit. K level is good. Going to try upping my broccoli, spinich, pickles and dairy. Main focus overall is building muscle.

I agree Kenna. That's why I take my daughter. She takes notes and asks for clarification as well. I'm a reader/researcher. I want to actually understand what I am being told and how it's going to work. That's why I am surprised that I missed this. I had a wonderful Doc years ago who told me "You have to be a partner in your health care. You live in your body and know it better than anyone." There is no one size fits all in health care. I believe you are a Beautiful Gift to those you are assisting!
