SLYONE 22's Journal, 30 Aug 22

I didn't just fall off of the wagon, I leaped from the speeding train. The last 11 days have been insanely out of control! We hosted 2 large family group BBQs. I have eaten well outside of my normal lifestyle most days! I have demonstrated why I have rules for myself about what foods are in my house. Like an alcoholic I can't eat just 1 serving of sweet and salty snacks and desserts. Once I get started with the excuses, I have a million of them. The weight gain is irritating but not insurmountable. I have experienced the food hangover and remember why I don't eat like that anymore.

The positives are starting another year healthier than the last one. I haven't skipped exercise during the binge. I have a firm grasp on why I don't eat that way now. All laundry, bedding and floors are done. Apparently guilt is a trigger to getting chores finished.

I am amazed that I felt this crappy for so many years! I didn't realize how much better I could feel by changing my WOE! Back on track today. Going to lift in an hour. I am seeing my way back from the dark side much sooner and the visits are much further apart.

Blessings on all of you for your honesty and modeling a variety of healthy lifestyles. The way is frequently a winding path with pauses and teaching moments thrown in for extra interest!

At least you caught it early. And you recognize that some food will just have to remain in the past. S'Okay. Have a great workout today!

Overall, I would say you did great. Heck, all the chores are done and you had a great time with everyone (I assume). And you are already back on track without an “insurmountable” gain!

JB, it was shocking to realize how quickly I can derail. Haven't done that in years. I thought it was in the past. The ugly was just sleeping. I know that now! You're right some stuff just needs to stay out of the house!

Oh yeah Tom, the chores were penance for all the Food Sins! The workout is guilty pleasure, love the adrenaline. I promised myself that the positive weight range is +/- 5#. No way after loosing over 100# in 3 years, I am ever going to dig that hole again. Thanks for the positive viewpoint!

Don’t kick yourself— it happens to all of us once in a while. It isn’t the end of the world. “Tomorrow” you just continue on with your normal WOE. Quilt and recriminations have no business here. Both are counter productive. Just keep those feet moving in a generally forward direction..this issue of weight management is a lifelong work in progess
