Deep thoughts from the elliptical this am:

I have a weekly check-in with a friend who moved away a few years ago. We are generally trying to support e/o's healthy living efforts. I told her about how ridiculously sore my abs have been and how much fun i have been having dancing. She said she thinks the dancing is some kind of healing release of trauma and that my muscles are releasing toxins, which i guess can also make you feel sore. Then i was thinking how core also means heart and it can also mean a strong center, and it is related to courage, or taking heart.

Anyway.

Jen, this is wisdom. Making that connection is so insightful. I completely agree. When I used to do yoga, I read an article about why opening up the heart poses were difficult for some and avoidance of feeling vulnerable was the reason, basically. Thank you for sharing this. ❤

Ty gals. 💕💕💕 @becca, yes, i think you get what i was trying to say. i am trying to heal ptsd, and i guess you store a lot of it in your muscles and fascia. I have heard massage sometimes causes pain because your muscles release emotional toxins.

From talk chineasy “The Chinese word for “happy” is 開心/开心 which can literally be translated as “open-hearted” and Dean Ornish proposes that perhaps being “open-hearted” in this sense is a much simpler and more effective route to good health than needing to have your heart opened for you by a surgeon!”
