Kinda had a binge last night. Still need to finish logging all of it. I am trying not to get discouraged, but it is difficult. I have basically been hovering around 185# since the beginning of time. I know it is a victory to basically be maintaining a ~50# loss, but i am still fat!!!

I haven't worked out for almost 3 weeks bc my abs are STILL SORE. Going to see if i can do a little tomorrow.

The only good i can see atm is overall i feel less blobby and waddle-y. But i am frustrated, not gonna lie. 😖

It is not easy. And it is really hard to keep motivated when you feel stuck. I think you ARE doing great keeping off the pounds you lost. Those poor ab muscles. What every you did: Do NOT do that again LOL. Go Jen!

I’m the same. Maintaining since September. Which is awesome but I would like to see a lesser number at some point. I’ve definitely changed my body shape with weight lifting so I continue. If the scale moves, great, if not, great. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I feel your pain, you are doing great though.

Muscles should only be sore for 2 days after exercise, any more and you’re working them too hard, they break down too much and protein gets into the bloodstream. It’s hard for your body to lose weight the way you want when it needs to heal itself. This is all about learning though! I think we all will face setbacks... or parties, vacations, etc that will pack on the pounds. The important part is having exercise as part of a routine, keep a mild calorie deficit 80% of the time, and to be easy on yourself. One binge won’t set you back. Good luck with your goals and stay safe!

Your abs shouldn’t still be sore. Are you doing a lot of bending and such? That might keep them sore. I get upper respiratory infections and couch so much my abs will stay sore for over a week but never as long as yours. I think you’re doing great but I get it. I remember how frustrating it was to plateau. You’ll get there just give it a little more time ;).

Ty, everyone. Boy, i am in a mood today! Oh this definitely doesn't feel like normal muscle soreness. Basically i tore the crap out of my abs. Rope burn feeling and they look bruised and literally felt hot to the touch. I've been using ice, heat, ibuprofen and rest. Honestly it is so frustrating because i feel like if i do anything i injure myself and get sidelined!! My roommate keeps saying i need to take it easy bc i am not a kid anymore, but how much easier can i take it??? I did some abs exercises and was sore but then i did a bunch of dancing and kept doing the elliptical and that seems to have aggravated the hell out of them. Like you said peeper, it feels like i have been coughing nonstop. I haven't, but that is how my midsection feels. Even though there is a lot of fat up front i can see "cuts" where my abs are lurking beneath, but i think part of it is shading from bruising.

Muscle tears in that region hurt and takes awhile to heal so give it rest. I have seen my DH get that kind of injury with one jerky move.

I agree, you should not still be sore. You may torn a muscle, have you had that checked out?

I hear ya 💯 Jen! Deep in my subconscious, a rationalization took hold that said "you lost 100 lbs, you may now stop trying" - but I'm still fat! You always inspire me, and I like seeing your posts - I'm teetering on the edge of FINALLY exercising 🥺💪🤸‍♀️🏋️‍♀️🚴‍♀️🧘‍♀️🚶‍♀️💃

Perhaps it’s time for a dr visit? If nothing else they should be able to tell you how long it will take to heal up. Hope it gets better soon!

Ty, all! I think the worst is over, but if it isn't all better next week i will go to doc. @pixie... Exactly!! I have 60# to go, so not time to rest on my laurels!

It's hard not to get discouraged when we don't get results we want. You are doing great and like others, I enjoy seeing your posts. Set goals, make a plan, and keep exercising. Try other types of exercise so u don't aggravate your stomach muscles anymore. 💜💜

Sit-ups and other direct ab exercises are overrated and can hurt your lower back. Is that how your abs got sore? I'm no expert, but maybe try strengthening your core with planks and other isometric work instead. Can't hurt.

I think sometimes we get too anxious and really tired of waiting for our goal to be completed...and I'm not talking just about weight loss or maintenance but with with anything actually. I do think my binging is sometimes just wanting something like 4 chocolate chip cookies...and I know that having 4 or even 6 isn't a binge or a sin of any sort, but still I feel guilty because the inner part of me wants to be soooo diligent in keeping with the regime of this new food relationship I have...well, maybe it's ok for us to have what we want every now and again, maybe that's the reason some people have that cheat day once a week or once a month...I don't know, but I do know I don't like feeling guilty or feel like I'm cheating because I had 4 or even 6 chocolate chip cookies....especially when I know I'm actually doing ok, for me......So! I guess I've said all this to simply say when you think you've punished yourself enough and dragged your 50lb lighter body down the streets and allies of where you live, maybe then you'll feel ok enough to get beyond your binge deal and begin to support yourself the way you truly deserve! :-) oh...by the way, everyone has probably been there at one time or many! :-) Chin up! :-)

Hugs, Jen! ❤️ I'm so sorry you are feeling blue... And I don't mean the bruises on your poor tummy. You are so appreciated and I'm so glad you are here. I know the pain of overdoing stuff and being unable to continue on a fitness path for weeks at a time. It has happened over and over for me. We aren't 18 anymore, and it is really hard to remember that. Currently I feel terrific, but I know it could be once false step running or lifting poorly and I'll be stopped in any progress. Give yourself a break, dear! ❤️ Tomorrow is coming and so is spring! You won't be in this spot too long! One little step at a time!

Ty for the reasoned and thoughtful pep talks, diana and melissa, ty for saying you enjoy my posts too. That makes me feel good! @jim, i was doing planks and leg lifts, as well as some reverse crunches (arrrrrgggghhh!!) But then i was dancing. The dancing is what seems to have made them so mad. It was just so fun that i kept going after i should have stopped, i guess. @toni-success, i really appreciate your post. Lots of very valuable food for thought in there. I am revisiting!! 💕💕💕

No worries JF, your good attitude and perseverance will wear down that plateau over time. It's not a finish line but a process....:-)

I agree with many on this thread. Your muscles should not be sore 3 weeks later. I've had them go 2-4 days but never longer, and when I abuse my body I really abuse it. It sounds like you need a close partner taking the same journey as you are. I hope you find your groove moving foward. Best to you.

Exercise is enjoyable and great for quality of life, but weight loss is 90% what you eat. Maybe concentrate on that while you heal up?
